Philadelphia “Stop Hating & Show Love Non Violence campaign

Lehigh Avenue

This weekend down 25th and Lehigh, A resident talked into the camera and said ‘ I don’t like North Philly because there’s too much shooting and killings. Cops and paramedics are always circling the block’. As citizens of Philadelphia we are too familiar with the high percentage of Homicides violence.

In the past few weeks local newspaper publications such as The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Daily News, and Philadelphia Metro have all highlighted the recent increase of shootings and murders in our neighborhoods. Reading the articles in the papers inspired us to go into the community and talk to the people about violence.

‘Urban black/black violence, youth violence, dosmestic violence and police brutality are all forms of violence’. HHPP

The Philadelphia Coalition of the Heart(COH) and The Hip Hop Party for the People (HHPP)  have been hitting the streets from block to block talking to the victim families of reckless violence, and neighbors seeking positive solutions for our communities.

  1. I think this is much needed! I am having a similar event on October 8th, 2011 at William L. Sayre High School in West Philadelphia. We want youth, parents, and community members from all over the City of Philadelphia to come and express their concerns about the violence on our streets. I invite and everyone else reading this to come and attend to make this event a success. For more information email me at
